Outer CV joint

Have had a funny noise for a while now, and I'm now getting the shakes through the steering all the time??

I've been told that this could be the outer cv joint?? The wheel bearings are both tight with no play.
Is there any way of diagnosing this without removing anything??
Ideas of cost might help me as well?

It does it all the time from pull off now?
I've parked it up as I don't want a recovery bill! Lol
