Bowie:
Does the warning light come on? If not then no problem, they do get quite hot, you can feel it through the carpet and soundproofing on the transmission tunnel.

Range Rover Blues:
Agreed, until they are hot they don't run right.  The oil cooler on a V8 runs into the water radiator for the engine then through the bog brush to help it warm up.  Around 8o degrees wouldn't surprise me but I don't know the exact figure.

What makes you think it's running too hot? the bog brush could be full of mud which is the first thing to check, then check you havn't crushed one fo the cooler pipes somewhere.
Does it still change gear as it should?

wizard:
Hi
yep she runs fine, I can feel the heat through the carpet and thought it was a bit odd.
I'll have a look at the pipework and the bog brush thing tomorrow.

Cheers
wizard

Mine used to get really hot on my classic (with 4.6) esp when towing...i replaced the bog brush with a big panel radiator that sits in a similar location...solved the problem straight away.
