Low top speed on TD5

(1/2) > >>

Landyman:
Just got a 2002 TD5 back on the road after a minor shunt but it wont do more than about 65 to 70 mph and flat out it is hunting like its got a fuel starvation problem.
I have changed the fuel filter and air filter but this made no difference.
I wondered if it might be a turbo problem?
It pulls well all through the gears just gets to 65 and won't go any more.
Any ideas before I book it into a garage for a professional and no doubt expensive diagnosis.

Any help or thoughts greatfully received.

disco2 td5:
Does it feel like the fuel is being shut off at that speed if yea have a look on discovery2.co.uk  he had a simlar problem and it's got very good write up on the td5 engine

Also try unpluggin the mas air flow metter

Landy Andy:
Is the turbo waste gate stuck?

Can you move the lever/arm on top of the turbo?

Or is it in limp home mode?

Andy

Disco Matt:
I'm not sure what diagnostics system the TD5 uses but you can buy a fault code reader for about

Landyman:
Thanks guys loads there for me to check I'll see how I get on at the weekend.
definitely not in limp home mode as it flies up to 60 mph fastest Landy I've ever driven just runs out at 65 -70.
I'm going to look at the waste gate first.
where can I buy a code reader for
