300 tdi not starting!

(1/3) > >>

MattDilley:
I have park the discovery up for 2 weeks whilst I fixed the wheel bearing and a few other problems. Previously to parking it up had a real problem starting it up after not being used all day.

Came to start it this morning, and it wont start! makes all the right noises etc but still nothing.
I changed the glow plugs this afternoon and still nothing.
I'm thinking there is a fuel issue, as there is nothing coming out of the metal hose which i disconnected from the injector?

Is this a common problem? can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Thanks Matt

Saffy:
possibly the lift pump is leaking fuel back to the tank so there's no fuel in the lines present, you wont be able to prime it manually with the lever either when it needs replacing.

Disco-Ron:
Could be a weak lift pump, or it could be not getting power to the start solenoid on the injector pump.... try disconnecting the fuel line after the lift pump, if you have fuekl there, then could be solenoid.... or, it could also be the alarm spier not sending live current to the start solenoid to open up and let fuel into the injector pump......

bogie:
Turn the ignition on,remove the wire to the pump and reattach it,if it clicks then its ok,if it dont then then the solanoid is stuffed. You can take the solanoid out ,remove the inner and bolt back on.It will start like this but you will have to stall it to stop it. By the sound of what you have said i doute this is the problem thou  :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k :-k

Range Rover Blues:
You'd only see a pinhead of fuel from the injector pipe when it's cranking.  Have you checked the wiring on the glowplugs or if they have a voltage at the connector?
