RRC Electric seat problem
mike142sl:
Hi,
Had a minor but annaying problem with a RRC Front seat with electric adjustment yesterday. All works in terms of forward and reverse, and recline BUT it won't tilt back from recline. Fortunately this was discovered before it was too late so to speak but could do with some advice about how to solve, and if it is the switch as i suspect does anyone know where I can get a replacement?
Thanks

Ebay is best for a switch, or driffield landrover show at the weekend. As for a quick fix, look under the drivers seat for the motor wires and + 12v until you get the desired position.
Range Rover Blues:
You can strip and clean the switch but it's fiddly, try squirting conta cg cleaner in there first.
Bowie:
Electrical contact cleaner (any auto parts store should have this) and 10 minutes wiggling sorts it for me every time :)

Don't take the switch apart, it is full of a million springs and ball bearings (ask me how I know! )
I have electric switches on both my RRC and D1. The D1 has this trick of making you think one movement has packed up. It hasn't, it is just lack of use. Take the switch and, very quickly, press, press, press it in the direction you want it to go (think: pressing a lift button when you are in a hurry).
If you need a new switch, they are expensive and rare on eBay. If you are looking for the driver's side, even harder to find. However, when I wanted a new switch for the D1 (remember what I said about not taking it apart? :D ), I bought one from the US.
In the US:
a/ the driver's side here is the passenger's side over there, so they have had less use.
b/ the US had many more RRCs and D1s with electric seats than we did, so more available now.
In the end, I bought a pair of switches from the US. I re-sold the passenger side one here in the UK and that one sale more than paid for the pair from the US. incl. the P&P.
