respray / paint job
Range Rover Blues:
My mate uses a hot air gun to strip paintwork, you might find the brushed on stuff will lift without taking all the paint off. Also if it's metallic then the laquer will be resistant to overspraying with primer.
Use synthetic water based primer if you overpaint, if you strip back to bare metal use an etch primer.
I bouth my gun new for £35, it';s Indian made but uses a copy of the Devilbis nozzle (they cost more than my gun ) and a compressor, well spend as much as you can afford, you need roughly 4cfm upwards and a decent tank on it, plus a water filter in your air line.
Cheaper way is an electric spray gun, all in one for under £100, works great with Synthetic.
DO NOT use isocyanate based 2-pack, it will kill you.
bogie:
I KNEW so many old school sprayers that used that nasty 2 pack crap, but as i put it,knew ,they all died of cancer!!!!

chris it all depends on what look your after. if you want a nice shiny motor for posing in then you would be looking at anywhere from £600 upwards to paint the car.
if your after something thats easy to maintain and hard wearing and dont break the bank then satin black paint is very chap and easy to apply.
if you want you can buy a cheap compresser / spray kit and havea go. ive known people to go and buy electric sprayers from the likes of B and Q and used them in there garage or driveway and still made a decent job.
personally i find spray cans are just as good. if you can get a memebership to one of thes motorsaes wholesale places then you can pay as little as 99p a can.
i have painted many cars in satin / matt black.
ths was all paintd using spray cans
so a paint job dont need to be expensive
Range Rover Blues:
At the other end of the scale, Julie's TDi cost about £2k to respray, proffesional job in a workshop.
les baty:
i saw a 110 done in matt black and got talking to the guy and he said he sprayed it with about 10 aerosols and it looked very good, also cheap to touch up
