Directional Tyres Question

Quick question

I've got Special Tracs on my Disco including the spare.
As you know these are directional tyres - as I only carry one spare, what would happen to it if i had to fit
it on the 'wrong' side so the arrow pointing the direction of travel is pointing the wrong way.
Would it be safe ? Wreck the tyre ?

It would only be a temporary fix until I got the puncture repaired.

You'll be fine.  The directional is the way they will 'dig' off-road, one way works better than the other.

If your concerned about handling, stick it on the back, but special tracks are hardly known for their smoothness on the road ;)

Oh kinda offtopic, but a trick which the mog guys use. Put your front tyres on backwards.  In theory you'll always be able to reverse back out of what you just drove in to - you'll be pulling with the weight of the engine over the axle.

It might affect braking performance..... not that there is much braking performance on them anyway!

dxmedia.... we used to run Yokohama A008R's the wrong way round on the front of the Midget race car for long fast circuits like Goodwood. It used to improve the braking performance. Ran the right way on the rear for traction. Twisty tracks needed them the right way round for cornering grip though.

I drove my 3.0 V6 Shogun back from Wales (130 miles, full of camping gear) with a Toyo Transpath fitted on the wrong direction and it was fine.

I have Maxxis Buckshots on the Jimny and they are not directional so no problem for spare on either side.
