burgerman:
Hi all, am looking to upgrade my existing front lights on our 2001 90, i have to remove the very bright front spot lights to make way for the new winch   Was looking at possibly some crystal clear replacement headlights and a HID upgrade, Any views please  :D

Jake:
A lot of the HID upgrades conflict with the dim dip feature as found on 300 Tdi and newer Defenders.
It might be wiser to fit some IPF bulbs and upgrade loom.

 :D

bogie:
The crystal headlights are ace, even with standard bulbs in they are well bright, bog window glass lights have always been rubbish!!! Go for it!!!!

just a note that the dimdip is easily disabled on a defender. remove the resistor from the circuit by disconnecting its supply at the pink relay located on the bulkhead behind the instrument cluster (or just cut the resistor from loom under the driver side wing) either way once gone the side lamps dipped beam works like any normal system.  Its because the resistors do cook themselves to death and burn out so the circuit fails safely and runs normally.

300TDi Disco:
Just bare in mind if you do alot of wading, Standard light's are sealed.
