fog light MOT mystery

hi, My vit failed the Mot for an inoperative rear fog and tale tell light. they both work fine but when the engine isn't started but when i start the engine both go out. there are no other electrical problems elsewhere. Who knows???????????

Hmmm got me confused too :(

Short circuit somewhere, check for damp in the lamp unit or trapped/worn cables at rear.
