D2 auto slow change

(1/8) > >>

martyn:
Iv just bought a D2 auto it seems a bit slow to change from 1st to 2nd especially on very cold days until it has warmed up is this normal i was wondering if the gearbox has a filter and if so where is it.

its got  FSH from Hartwells would it have been changed as part of the servicing, also it is very difficult to get it into low box it takes a lot of fiddling and when it does go it does so with a loud clunk i did wonder weather i has been used in low box at all so i have tried engaging L box a couple of times in the last few days hoping to free it up but its no better, wehre abouts are the top up screws for both gear box and transfere how do i know when its at the correct lever.
this my first diesel/auto and so far its been ok wife is impressed but i would like it to go a bit quicker where abouts is the EGR and how diificult is it blank will this make an improvement oh its done 93000.
I intend taking the vehicle back and want some answers as i dont want to be fobbed of by the garage,
.
ps the sat nav is rubbish

any help great fully recieved

i find mine is a bit slow on changes till the box warms up takes about a mile
egr blanking stops exaust gases goin back in well worth blanking off no real power to be had they run a little smoother

easest thing to do to make it faster is chip it
136 bhp is not enough to move 2.5 tons of disco
were as with a chip  160 bhp is easy to get and about enough to move the disco
200 bhp is also easy  get a turbo box and turning the boost up will acheave that as well as said chip and is more than enough to move a disco
does use more fuel but home many diesel autos can spin all 4 wheels on a dry road

disco2 td5:
sorry its got a filter its inside the gear box undo the 6 bolts holding the sump remover that and the fliter is held in place with 2 or 3 silly star screews

i myself find this site a good one www.discovery2.co.uk very help full he has put pics and all sorts on that he has done to his own disco2

martyn:
Thanks for that when it goes back i at least want to let them know what im talking about

i cant imagine that the g/box filter has beeen changed if you need to drop the sump to change filter

disco2 td5:
if i remeber rightly its done as part of either a 24 or 36 thousand mile service were the box oil and filter are changed but its never changed again
