p38 engine rebuild

just puting a p38 bmw 2.5dt back together does it have a spigot bearing or not? as the new engine came out of a 3 sieres bm and didnt get the old engine with it so i have no idea if it does or not

hi, i cant help you with the spigot bearing, but would be interested to know if the engine and gear box mate up ok, as iv been told that altho they are the same engine, the 7 series engine wont fit the P38  gearbox

now that might throw a spanner in the works! can anyone else help with some info on this?

I was told the same thing when i was looking for an engine for a p38 i bought. The same engine is also fitted to vauxhall omega's aswell as the bmw's but apparently neither of them will fit a p38.

is there any specific reason why or if they don't match i.e different moulding of the block etc?
