Gone, But Not Forgotten
Bush Tucker Man:
My trusty old 110 'Heritage' departed from 'BTM Towers' last Saturday morning at 10:30 :(
It was sold on the Friday to a chap from Preston, who even though I wasn't here, & SWMBO didn't know where the keys were, came across just to look at it!
Saturday morning, he came back with the money & after a brief test-drive, took it away*.
I was looking at all the paperwork for the 110, & since its last MoT test (June) it had covered less than 2,300 miles!
Buying the Volvo ('W' plated V40) as a runabout last July helped to keep that mileage down, but that was starting to show its age - the gearbox was getting whiney, & MPG wasn't too good (so that went as a 'px', with the Landie-cash)
However, due to Joanne needing to sort out some transportation for (probably) travelling down to Gwent 2-3 days a week from next month (& up to Stockton on Tees too), we decided that the XKR is not viable to use for that amount of useage (even with reclaimable mileage)
So......................... with instructions to look at diesel estates, ie; Astra/Mondeo/Octavia/Vectra/V50/V70, off she went (with her dad) on the Saturday afternoon whilst I went to work
I got a call by 15:00 to say she was outside in a 'test-drive car', which she bought, & we picked up on Wednesday afternoon
It's on a '57' plate, blue, 7750 miles (on pick-up), & not a diesel
*The registration 'S50 RAT' has stayed on the vehicle, as I didn't have the time to remove it.
This is my fault, as she's been on at me for a couple of months to either use it, or sell it

better update your forum signature - whilst we turn our backs
Gromitt:
How ironic that I am just coming back into the 4x4 fraternity and one of the nicest guys on here has sold up. I"ll miss seeing the RAT Heritage around Castleford.
Bishops Finger:
So do you get to keep the Jag then??
Please keep posting here your comments on northern life are always a good read

Aww thanks.
Now you'll just have to look out for the XKR, or me on the bike, or perhaps running?
If I'm on the bike (in decent weather), I'll be in a Club jersey; Featherstone Road Club (sponsored by Kendell Cycles, up on Oxford Street)
I even run in one sometimes when I'm out training around here, & definately for Fell-Running

Yes, it's still here for now.
Although............... we have 'sort-of' promised ourselves an Aston Martin, if SWMBO's company continues to flourish as it has since its October launch (A-M within 18 months?)
(a manual V8, not the V12)
I saw one today (in black) at Peckforton Castle (Cheshire) when we briefly dropped in there for a look around
