It might have been an idea to run a heavy earth wire up there

Going to run a new set of wires to the CB tomorrow if I get a chance
M0EAF:
sort out your swr and the power out will go up ;) ;) ;)

Might be some worth in re-checking the condition of the coaxial cable especial the end connector at the rig end. When I had a CB mounted in similar location I recall the coax having to be routed at less than desirable acute angles from the rear of the rig. Not only can the cable physically fail unnoticed but its also not impossible for it to change its RF properties if too tight a bend.

Thanks for the help guy's :clap:i've ran a new power supply to the rig this afternoon so I now know it's getting plenty of juice but the SWR was still to high (around the 3 mark) & using a jump lead from the door check strap to the plug made no difference so I think my earth is ok :roll:I'm using new coax but have redone the PL plugs to make sure their not shorting & will test it again tomorrow to see what readings I get as the only thing I can think of now is to start shortening the whip down even tho it's a pre tuned one
