no doubts that it is an insidious pig once user is duped into installing it, had my sister on phone in tears over it last year. I wonder what percentage of people hand over payment.
BTW is your windows installation in its default colour scheme and desktop theme, i.e did you change the appearance since it was first installed?
ChrisW70:
Personally I'd only pay it any notice if CNN announced it as one of the worst virus' so far this year...
wormster:
HA HA all the more reason to move away from the ebil gates empire!!!

yeah all colours the same it just disabled all virus checks, security centre, and stopped the ability to download, and changed all my .dll files around so nothing would load, had to do system restore to earlier point using and having to run it as administrator instead of normal. was a nasty one worst i had

my question about do you use default colours is because I believe that is how you got duped into installing the trojan in the first place. Your browser displays a very real looking windows interface which is totally bogus but doesn't stand out to the unwary because it uses the default MS windows colour scheme (the friendly blues and whites). This illusion of your own system giving you important security alert is how in part you are engineered into accepting the download and running the executable when in fact your just looking at a deviously crafted animation.
If the users have changed the desktop colour schemes beyond default I think it would go some way to showing up what they are looking at as bogus when encountering this websites.
See my screenshots of such an attempt in the link below, it stands out like sore thumb that it is not real... because it not displayed in my colour scheme (beside that fact I not even running windows).
