morson4x4:
Hi all i need to do a vic checks due to a accident however my car was mot'd till june this year will that mot still be valid after the crash or do i have to re mot it for vic check, directgov dont give enough info just says a valid mot is needed thanks
doda456:
If the car has been written off, then it will need a VIC check. If it hasnt been written off then you wont
Also it has to have been a cat c or d write off as cat A and B are not allowed back on the road.

my insurance has said it will need a vic check it is written off but they said it isn a total it is repairable, repair cost was £2800, i done it for £150 but will i need a new mot before it goes to vosa or will my one from 6 months ago be fine
trecfive:
If it is MOTed today from a test in the past(pre-accident) then it still has a current MOT on the vehicle(unless twelve months have past).Wether the vehicle is safe and roadworthy is down to how the repairs were carried out.All the test is to prove that it is the same vehicle, and they don't check the numbers where you know where they are.I had the same test in the summer.

Have a look on the DVLA website, they have a list of all of the VIC testing stations. Just book in and they will check that the car isn't a ringer.
