Which diesel engine?

(1/3) > >>

JumboBeef:
I have owned a 200Tdi, and also a (new at the time) TD5.  I'm now looking for a 110 Diesel, and I am wondering if I should go for a 300Tdi (I'm looking to spend £4,000 to £8,000) or save money and go for a 200Tdi, or push the boat out and go for a TD5.

Which is engine is best, taking into account the cost (I know a TD5 is better than a 200Tdi, but it costs a damn sight more).

Thanks.

ChrisW70:
Personally, I'd go for a 200/300 based on it being mechanical and ease of getting hold of spares/replacement parts. As to whether 200/300 it's more down to condition of the rest of the car - bulkhead, outriggers, rear crossmember etc.

JIMBOBLY:
200 tdi any day mate, easy to work on,loads of second hand bits, and no electronics to go wrong, and they'll run on chip fat easy enough too

bogie:
A good 200 will never let you down, cheap and simple and easy!!!!

disco2 td5:
td5 any day more powerful and no poxy rubber timeing belt to worry about ( i hate them things )
