New Owner 2004 GC (WJ) 2.7 CRD Ltd - Rain Sensor Question

Hi all,

Just picked up a second hand GC and am enjoying the general experience. Due to the recent weather I had not spotted that the rain sensor on the front wipers does not seem to work. I can set it to low, it does one swipe (as per owners manual) and then goes into continuous mode. I tried the normal and fast and they work fine, I just cannot seem to get the auto to work.
Any advice or help much appreciated.
