need help with coolant leak
The Electrician:
Yep checked the heater pipes when I had it apart to do the head last week, they seem fine, thanks anyway.
The jubilee clips are crap, but they all are, but none letting by, and the heater matrix is inside the cabin....isn't it, my leak is definatley from the block somewhere.
it was quite alot of water in a couple of seconds, it was like someone emptying a pint glass and it hit the bar (probably the anti-roll bar) that goes right accross the underside of the car, the one which is the reason the sump is shallowed at the rear-end.
The water hit that bar on the right-hand side.
But until this snow stops, I ain't jacking it up on axle stands and climbing under it.
Someone must have or had the same problem.
cheers
Gary
ps, Anyone got a snow plough.
Range Rover Blues:
I'd suggest you check the core plugs then, not a fun job as you say.
Does the water continually run out at the speed?
bilge rat:
i did the core plugs on me 300 but they were down the starter motor side , i do know there is one at the back of the block inside the bell housing i think . but iff it was that water would be emptying out the wading hole ?. think its a wait till the snows gone and take a peek underneath ..alan
thediscodude:
i did the core plug behind the waterpump, i suppose the hardness is just in what you have to take off to get to it
The Electrician:
I think you have just sussed it !!
After the water rushes out it seems to be exiting the engine between the block and gearbox.............................Damn that probably means the core plug is knackered eh ?
that sounds expensive..........................is it engine out or gearboxes out........................if so which is easier ?
and is the wading plug a 10mm (could be a 13mm) bolt with washer in the dead centre bottom od bell housing, cos if it is.....it is in place, and it shouldn't be should it ?
assuming this is the problem and it sounds like it could be.................whats the fix ?
cheers guys
Gary.
