need help with coolant leak

(1/4) > >>

The Electrician:
hi guys,
I have a 200tdi (thought it was a 300tdi when I brought it, but transpires it's had a engine change to a 200tdi) anyway, no idea how many miles its done but thats probably imaterial.
I started losing coolant, thought it might be a head gasket, so changed that, thats now fine, still losing water, changed water pump, thats now fine, no water leaks from the front of the engine, but......

.......topped up the water and it dropped out of the engine low down at the back of the engine, no idea where from, I am fairly sure it is coming from the drivers side (righthand side) below the hand priming pump, but in quite large quanities, seems to be close to where the engine meets gearbox.

maybe a core plug ?

Any ideas?

Help it's driving me nuts.

i had a split pipe on my 300, right behind the block, was very hard to see at the time, just luck that i found it, fingers crossed its tht simple for you

doda456:
Check out the pipes, that run alongside the rocker cover and into the bilkhead for the heater.  they a little fiddly to get on and also check that they have tight jubilee clips on

Disco-andy:
Have you had a look at the carpets in the foot wells it's not uncomern for the heater matrix to leak a fair bit of water.

Range Rover Blues:
Pipes from the head to the heater, the one that connects to the back passenger side of the block is a swine to tighten up sometimes and both pips can chaff on the back of the head, worth checking.
