I know this might offend some of you for a love of series but..

 I'm very sad this has happened but my S3 88" is no longer road worthy, nor can I keep running it due to fuel costs and tax etc etc. So I was looking to turning it into a Trialer.

 I have seen in an old issue of LRO a 80" S1 in almost standard form competing and this is what I'm looking to do.. It will get completely stripped down and rebuilt from the ground up so I can sort all of the issues, mostly RUST!! and build it up with new components to allow it to be more competitive and so on from there..

I'd like to compete it but i also want to use it as a weekend toy. I'd like it to be road legal, but if not it's no big issue Just I'll have to look for a trailer. So, My question is.. Do any of you know of competitive series 3's? Is it a good base? or am i better restoring it and selling it on for a more modern Boingy? (Really don't want to, this is my first car that I learnt to drive in and I don't wanna see it go) I've restored a previous 109 which was a lot of fun but Off-roading has a big part in my heart and I lost a huge amount of money in my previous restoration due to it being on a Q plate!

If the trialer does turn out to be a good option, I'd like to document it here as I go and use advice from all you kind people here that have helped me out many times in the past!

Sorry if this is supposed to be in modified vehicles but It will be mostly standard so I assumed it was better off in here

I have a competative series 3 diesel.

standard class, rear hoop and stays with 7.50R16 tyres.

Not competed for two seasons due to health, but took the class win for the year last time i competed against standard 90's and Rangerovers.

That's interesting, My truck seems like a good base, I don't really have to worry about tires, It's got some Michelin 7.50R16's almost brand new! Worth more than the truck haha

It's got some other bits and bobs fitted new, It also has the extremely unreliable Petrol But I plan to rebuild that.

I'd like to remove the cab and do some fender chopping also with some suspension upgrades as by the fella' with the oiled up leafs and the Procomp shocks (Can't remember his name!  :evil: Devon something)

But I'm looking forward to getting in the muddy stuff, Second land rover and I've not been able to use either of them for it!!  :'(

Im planning something similar with my swb, once Ive finished reassembling it :oops:

picked up a rear roll hoop off that rather nice chap bogie on here the other day 

really must get on with reassembling it  and connecting up the LPG kit
