X-Box 360 or PS3?
auf_wiedersehen_pet:
I'm looking at buying one or the other so that I can play Formula 1 2010 (Due next year on X-Box & PS3) and either Forza Motorsport 3 (X-Box) or GT5 (PS3).
I know very little about either. Your thoughts please?

ps3, has blu-ray built in -goes online for free (xbox makes you pay) - upgrades over net - has I player built in ;) also has wireless controllers as standard..
I use mine as a media player as it will play and store MP3's - AVI's etc

Ps3 is a media centre more than a gaming machine. I have mine plugged into the TV and a 5.1 surround system, all TV comes in over the internet (tvcatchup.com) or via iplayer (built into the ps3), films are through the built in bluray player or DVD's using the PS3's second-to-non upscaler. Using the internet is a little clunky due to using the 6 axis rather than a keyboard and mouse, although it's more than dooable.
The internet is free and unlimited access unlike the xbox360, the hard drive is user upgradable (laptop sata drive), unlike the extortionally expensive 360 hard drives. The new ps3's don't look quite as much like the george forman grill, although they've lost the backwards compatibility of the ps2 games (I've got it, and have never used it).
WiFi on the PS3 is rubbish - google it, it's very very slow. I'm using 200Mb ethernet adaptors to solve the problem. The later PS3's might have got a better wifi card, but the early ones it's like being on 'b'.
xbox 360 - It's easier to code for, so the games blow the PS3 games out of the water. Don't get the PS3 for gaming, get the xbox. Give it 2 - 3 years though, the coders will get their heads around the 7 cores in the ps3 and the games will get exceptional.
Oh the TV tuner card thing for the ps3 is supposed to be brilliant. I've not got cable / Sky or Freeview here so I've never tried it.
If I was to get a console now - I'd get the xbox, and replace it with a ps3 in 2 - 3 years time.
If I was to get a media centre now, I'd get a PS3 and start playing games on it in 2 - 3 years.
Oh iplayer will never come out for the xbox due to m$ charging to get online, and this being in breach of aunti's t&c's. You might be able to navigate to the iplayer webpages though - don't know, never tried.

Definatly PS3 bought mine a few months ago and use it for everything. Blu-Rays are amazing if you have a compatible TV and also really good at upscaling standard DVD's too.
Gaming is great and the online store lets you download lots of demo's for free to see if you like the games before shelling out for them. and as mentioned already free to go online and updates automatically, free to browse the web and i-player built into it too..
You really cant go wrong and unless your addicited to microsoft then i really cant see the point in the x-box. even though it is cheaper but then the PS3 has loads more to offer
Hope that helps :)
