headlight adjustment?

having got new lights is there a  set way of alligning them without  a beam setter? ie x meters from wall, beam height should be y, centered z from edge of car. or is it just what looks about right?

Only thing I can think of is if your old lights are still fitted mark the beam pattern (if correct) on a wall as you mentioned then swap the lights over & see if they need adjusting & if so match the beam pattern to your marks

main reason for swapping was cos old units were stuffed and as the reflector had gone there was no real beam pattern to speak of. think i will go with looking right not being too far off for now.

You have to watch out for LHD/RHD differences.

Range Rover Blues:
I set ine against a wall at Tesco, make sure they aren't too high to start with, that they are level and point forewards not sideways.  then I drive it to see what I can see,  Make sure y9our dipped isn't too high, though that way your main would be off the road.

I usually find that by setting them so they are most use they pass at MOT time without problems, apparently they are well adjusted ;)
