Purging Fuel system Disco TD5

Discotel:
Hi peeps,

How do you purge the fuel system on the above vehicle, I have just fitted a new fuel pump and tried the old 3 minutes with the ignition lights on, then crank it, wait 15 seconds and repeat...It wont fire.....Anything else I can try before it goes to the garage or up in flames :evil:...I knew there was a reason I went of Landys..Pain in the ass.

turn the ignition on,then imediatly press the acelarator pedel 6 times,the engine light will flash,and then the pump will start to purge,but if you've tried to start it,you've pump more air in,so do this procedure twice,hope this helps mate,jim :D

Cheers Jim, Will give it a try in a mo, if it works mate I owe you a beer... :lol:...I really hope it does work as I am regretting buying the bloody thing already...Only had it 2 weeks, its been dead for one...

no worries mate,i just read the first post you put on,looks like other people had said how to purge the system,but it is the way i said,cause i had to ring hunters for this procedure,as i done the block that i was talking about in your first post,about 2 weeks ago,lol, i know what you mean,they're a lovely truck,but costly when they go wrong,and you may may be able to help me in the future,lol.

Can you believe it, Ive now killed the battery trying to start it...I have had it now...Im gonna burn the bloody thing...Was in the process of trying your method Jim and the battery has died...Nice....

Quickly, After I have pumped the pedal 6 times, the engine light did come on and flash, when do I try and start the car, while it is flashing or once it has stopped...?
