SNOWING

<< < (4/8) > >>

V8MoneyPit:
And this is about half a mile down that road..... I love where I live  :D I could never live in a town, or even a village, again.

Suvvey:
Stayed in Swaffham last night. Left mine with hardly any snow but buy the time I got there there was a good 18 inches sitting on top of the walls and gardens with the roads completely covered despite the best attempts of gritters and snow ploughs :D Carried on snowing heavily all night although it didn't seem to get any deeper on the ground.

Decided to walk to the high street in the morning and had a very near miss with a tree. Walked along the road as the pavement was deep in the white stuff and was about to walk under a heavily laden bough that spanned the road. Before I reached it I heard a loud crack and a lot of the snow dropped off. Decided to get up onto the footpath that was just out of it's reach and carried on. As I passed it there was an even louder crack and it came crashing down blocking the road  If it hadn't of given that first crack there would of been a good chance I'd of been underneath it taking photos like i had been further back along the road

On my return journey there were several cars struggling to turn around in the snow because they couldn't negate the bough. I was tempted to get the Landy and clear it but it was still just about attached to the trunk which was in a rather large garden belonging to a very expensive looking period house and didn't fancy the hassle that would no doubt come about of trying to do a good deed. Also I had had a few sherbets the night before so decided against being caught on the road that early dragging half a tree away

discodee:
heres a few of the recent snow fall weve had although its still falling now and will be till about the end of next week

wormster:
Yay!! a light dusting of snow on top of the hill today!! - let's watch the muppets trying to drive!!

Suvvey:
Finaly got a good dose of it over night so couldn't resist the temptation to go for a jolly down the untreated back roads (even the treated ones were a bit dodgy in places). Was not surprised to find complete muppets crashing about in it sliding around blind corners as they were driving far too fast and overtaking on sheet ice or compacted snow  I was surprised and a little ashamed that it was 2 seperate guys in 4x4's that were behaving like kids and that all the standard cars that I came across were actually driving extremely well in the conditions (I wouldn't of fancied it at all in my focus). I was expecting to find someone in trouble at some point but the nearest I came to it was actually when I stopped to let the dog stretch her legs and a nice family in a Freelander came alongside to check that I was ok
