What Shall I Do with these bits?
strapping young lad:
ive just removed the head unit from my car but unsure what to do with the wiring thats dangling out of the gap!
will attach pictures to show what i mean
ChrisW:
Will you be putting...
1. A head unit back
2. Leaving it as is
If 1 - is it
A. the original
B. aftermarket
If A you won't need that lead and you can unplug it and see if you can get rid of it on ebay or if anyone else wants it.
If B you will probably need it to plug into the new head unit.
If 2 leave it there (but tucked away in the radio recess)
The 'earlier' Discovery's did not have "EU" connectors that every other head unit has these days so you needed an adaptor lead to connect them up (which you have hanging out)
strapping young lad:
ive decided not to put one in unless i find my old unit
ive got the head unit here so will i have any trouble connecting it to the yota when i get it?
what will i need?

What connectors have you got in the Toyota?
Might be best asking in the Toyota forum maybe?
Matt_H:
a lot of modern cars an ISO loom [1], 99.9% of modern radios either have an ISO socket or a multiplug to ISO converter.
I believe what you have in your car is a Land Rover to ISO connector as they decided to use their own standard. The picture is a bit blured but the purple wire one is the speaker connectors. I can't tell the socket exactly at one end so it could either be radio to ISO or ISO to landrover. If it plugs direct to the radio, you'll be wanting to keep that bit for whatever vehicle you put it in later.
If your toyota doesn't have an ISO loom, so long as it's not been butchered you should be able to get a toyota to ISO converter which will plug into the headunits wiring loom, it saves having to solder your own wires in.
[1] one of many of the ISO standard specifies a common headunit connector
