Which is the cheapest and best motor for winch challenge?

My money is on a scrap disco and a whitbred frame

I'm waiting for a challenge spec Suzuki X90 to turn up. There have been a few modified examples in various magazines, sooner or later someone will try competing with one.

They're small, light, can use most Vitara chassis bits. The potential is there for a talented fabricator to turn one into a competitive truck.
