Disco wont start-help!
2 the max:
also forgot to mention, this has only been happening since i went through some floods last week- could the water have got into the starter motor and short circuited something?

Ah!! It is possible that some crap has got into the solenoid? It is probably best to just replace as you are a novice with these but most would remove the starter and give it a good clean out.
I've never done one on a Discovery, but the old series ones were 3 bolts to undo, disconnect the electrics (remember where they go!!) remove starter, refit new one do up bolts and re connect electrics! Its no hard, awkward probably due to the tight spaces but not hard.
About £80 +vat for a new one

A 200 or 300 starter are costin around £140 mark these days(EXCHANGE). Just depends how gready your local motor factor shop is. I can get them repaired for around £40 by me.

Just had some good news..my girlfriends dad was working on a disco today, and has the starter motor off it (good condition) and will fit it tomorrow before my 80 mile trip to essex for free. :D
