Off Road insurance??

--- Quote from: dxmedia on November 24, 2009, 09:20:42 ---I would personally check with the insurance company. There is a legal difference between a byway and a high way. If the insurance company can get out of paying, they will.
For sake of argument, the isuzu troopers owners club prefered insurance company (4x4 specialist) does NOT cover for green lanes. The make the distincation that a byway is not a high way. That's a 4x4 insurance company and a club scheme.

The term 'byway' also applies to many hard surfaced roads too. I'm sure the term 'green lane' is refering to soft surface roads, not specifically byways. It would be interesting to see what happened if someone made a claim for a crash on one of the UK's many hundreds (thousands?) of miles of hard surface byways.
As you rightly say, insurance companies will squirm out of a payout by any means. But I feel confident this clause could be contested.
After all, that's like saying 'we aren't going to insure you to drive on the M25'. They are exluding part of the UK's legal road system.

They said my breakdown does not cover me if I use my truck off road. I think if I was on the road just outside the pay and play they may have come and picked me up.

Simple, get your mates to push/tow you to the entrance or a handy layby and phone from there!
