Disco or Defender gearbox ?

<< < (2/2)

90Mike:
I can get the discovery box converted for £200 inc the sticks but i thought that the denfender box had a long bell housing as well because the engine sits so far forward,as for the tank i was planning on using the standard tank as it is already fitted with a fuel pump for the v8  [-o< cheers guys

extreme90:
yes but what pressure is the output ?
a td5 has 2 cycles
low pressure out to the fuel filter
fuel filter then back to the tank/fuel pump where its dumped into a swirl pot
then to high pressure and out the the engine

you need a swirl pot to stop fuel starvation on anyform of hills with it
dan
p.s its alot easier to use defender looms as it looks neater.
disco looms are good for running td5's up on the floor

90Mike:
The plan is to use a defender wiring loom so at least i can get ECU in to the cab but still use my discovery ECU so i guess i will be looking closely at the pin numbers just  got to wait for postman to drop it off

Now the confusing bit just got the g/box & t/box out of the disco measured the bell housing against a mates defender td5 and they are both the same  :? :-.

extreme90:
yes they are, the gearstick is just back to front
if you use the disco ecu the guages will work back to front
