What does 'to end of FA' mean?

Hi,

This may be a silly question but after trying to order some brake pads for my classic from Paddocks I got confused trying to find out what they meant by item descriptions such as "Brake disc - front - non vented to end of FA".

I guessed the 'FA' bit reffered to the VIN number but i have two classics (one 1983 and one 1987) and both of their VIN numbers start 'SA', but i know they use different pads as OE. What bit should I be checking to make sure that my classic needs parts 'to end of FA' as opposed to 'GA onwards'.

Your VIN number will be something like SALLHAMF7GA123456. It is referring to the GA which is the year identifier before the serial number. At a guess your 87 will be SALLHAML7FA******. Hope this helps.
