i second that.
V8MoneyPit:
Actually, Littlepow is right. At least on the MOT point.
If an anti-roll bar is standard fitment to a vehicle, it is a failure if not fitted. However, if it was an option it is not a failure.
Section 2.4, G2 of the MOT manual reads:
Method of inspection:
Check that an anti-roll bar is fitted to an axle on which it is standard.
Reason for rejection:
An anti-roll bar not fitted to an axle on which it is standard.
My manual is rather old, but it is rare for things to get 'downgraded'.
Little-Green-Machine:
ahh i see so if its not an optional extra, removing it is a failure?
dxmedia:
Strangely I don't know anyone who has failed for removing a roll bar and having an MOT (inc. myself)
Having bad bushes or joints, yeah that's a failure, but removing the bar is a quick fix.
Will go and av a chat with my mot mate to see if it has changed or not.
Learn something new every day and all that - Appologies Littlepow.
ben-dent:
The MOT testers book says, if an item is fitted it must be tested, if it isnt fitted it cant be tested so cant fail (unless it is a Testible item such as Exhaust, Suspension, Brakes, Steering), but it will be noted down on a VT32 advisory note that it is missing, if it is fitted but not connected (link broken / missing then it is a VT30 Failure Notice, but it is down to the NT to make the decision on if its a VT30 ot VT32
On Land Rovers and other 4x4s the ARB is an Optional Fittment so it doesnt matter if they are removed
i am currently reading all of the Lastest additions of the MOT tester books because in a months time i will be going on the MOT course to become a Nominated Tester, so i will be learning everything, if i do find any alterations to what i have read already then i will post up that there is a change,
