Dont think Steve will keep the engine which is in there, so why waste too much time and effort on it.

He's cleaned and painted it because it would look out of place as a rusty leaking lump in what is virtualy a new 90.

 oh my post wasn't actually aimed at steve or anyone in particular - I haven't even looked at his website yet - and I do not think for one minute he is suggesting it's been reconditioned via an application of paint! I on about the ebay sale horror stories where you get the classic 'rebuilt engine xxx thousand miles ago' and a big end drops on new owner a week later.

V8MoneyPit:
I never saw your post as a go at me! It's just my mate Mutz getting all protective

Your post made me laugh.... it's amazing how long an oil leak can be held back with plenty of paint slapped on!

As for mine, I just changed a few gaskets and seals in the hope it won't drop too much on the driveway and gave it a quick lick of paint to tidy it up a bit. It'll do for now and I'll maybe look for a 200tdi next year.... or when the bank account recovers a bit..... Oh, on that basis it might be a few years

Mutz:
Apologies Tanglefoot, i did read it the wrong way

Protective, Moi

I have seen Steve's 90 in the flesh and know he has put a lot of time and effort into getting it right, (not to mention money), and can appreciate that he wasnt going to waste money on an engine he's going to replace.

Check the link out and you will see the results so far.
