Towing a Sankey trailer + one more ?
wizard:
--- Quote ---So how do the fairground people get round towing two trailers or sometimes three
--- End quote ---
Dunno about that but try and take a caravan and a trailer down the motorway and see if the Dibble pull you over.
I dont recall ever seeing fairground folk towing more than one trailer even in Wales where they are a lot more open minded than other places !!
If it was legal dont you think it would be common place to see something along the lines of Australian road trains....

It isnt illegal as far as i know, regularly tow 2 14t beet trailers behiend my tractor, never had a problem.
Even towed 2 ifor livestock trailers behiend the 90.
Reversing is easy with twin trailers, you just have to think about it a bit more than reversing with a single trailer, it is just practice lol
wizard:
I have searched the net and havent found much info
You can tow more than one trailer with a tractor upto a total weight of 24 tonnes, the only other info i found was dated 2007
Towing more than one trailer used to the only requirement in Uk regulations that stated the vehicle must be LHD.If the towing vehicle had only a driver,it had to be LHD.If RHD it had to have an observer as well-this was presumably to avoid pedestrians being caught up by one of the latter trailers. You still see fairs/circuses towing these trailers

It's the same in effect as towing a 4 wheel trailer with a bogey front axle isn't it?
Both trailers would need to have operational brakes due to the weight of 2 sankeys being over 750 (or bloody close too)
You might need long vehicle signs, but a call to the dvla or vosa is probably worth it.
mobi:
i think you will find that you can only pull more than one trailer under showmans rules.
