V 8 ENGINE EXTRACTION ( PAINFUL !!!! )
SPIKEY:
Painful for me, as I am at work to-morrow, getting one out.
As some people may know, I sold my boss a '97 Disco 3.9 a few weeks ago.
He has now sold the engine, and I have the job of getting it out :( :(
As the car has been rolled, and there is no interior in it, would it be best to take the shell off the chassis and work from the top, or does any-one know an easy way ?
This is the main plan of attack, but any other suggestions would be more than welcome.
HELP :!: :!:
Cheers,
SPIKEY.
Xtremeteam:
depends on what you wish to save as if the rest of it is getting scraped id get the burner out & whip the shell off as this will make it easer to split the engine from the box as im in the middle of doin 2 clutchs on discos & getting the bolts from underneath is a nightmare
SPIKEY:
Cheers V8 - how about cutting the transmission tunnel out ?
The shell is scrap any - way.
Cheers,
SPIKEY.
Xtremeteam:
could just cut the tunnel out if your short of time,im guessing you have removed all the wiring for the ecu etc? otherwise this burns rather well
if you removing the shell you can prety much start chopping where ever takes your fancy
muddyweb:
If you are cutting.. make sure there are no fuel lines, tanks, filters in the way too !
