Can someone identify this pipe for me?

to be honest when I first got the car I didn't notice anything wrong, then it started giving me starting probs which was traced to a couple of dodgy HT leads and a bad plug.  Replaced leads and plugs and all was well, then a month or so later it started running rough on petrol but seemed ok on gas.  Then it's gone for MOT and failed badly.  Now it's rough as hell on petrol and not much better on gas. 

Yes feel free to post the pic, I'd be interested to know if that pipe should be connected to something...

did you take it in for the mot on gas or petrol? They arent allowed to change it over and iirc gas should be near enough emissions free. Next time take it in on gas and leave it on gas.

a mate of mine did that as his petrol tank leeked so never used gas. Also meant he did fail the mot with a badly leeking petrol tank!  :lol: ;)
