Freelander TD4 Bottled It

Right then,

According to the freelander owner guide that is in front of me. The maximum wading depth is 14inches. It says you can go further but need to take preparations.

Now if the water was over the bonnet of the Fiesta then its quite deep. Now as I know about fording and the consequences of getting it wrong I would not have gone through it either, especially if I was on the way to work, of shopping etc with no mates to help tow it or recover it.

Now some may say that then the freelander is rubbish, but mine is currently parked in a field on my farm down a rough track with the boot full of tyres for my other car and does eevry off road job I ever ask of it (on about a daily basis).

I admit that it was a sweeping statement, and all sweeping statements are false, and without knowing the road, the ford, and all the other variables it's impossible to make an informed comment - not that it stops journalists (sorry, that's another one... )

What I was meaning is that there are lots of Freelanders (and other, generic 4x4s) who are driven by people who forget what they are designed and able to do.

I've lost count of the times I've come head-to-head with one on a single track road and had to climb on to the verge in my (then) conventional car, a SEAT Cordoba, because the 4x4 driver wouldn't. It's happened when I've been towing a trailer too.

The one time I tried to negotiate, the lady driving it said she didn't want to go on the grass in case she got stuck...

Why do they waste money on buying and running a 4x4?  :-.

i hate friday jokes.....makes me feel happy and i really dont want to smile  :P

woody:
