300tdi electric windows - reset?

Hi all
I've an N plate one, and when the one touch dodad winds the window down, it carries on for about 5 secs after it reaches the bottom.  Makes horrible noise (more irritating really).  I know the prev owner  put a new mechanism in - has he got it wrong, or does it need resetting? (& if so how- disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours made no difference)

I think they are on a timer, so no way of altering it easily.
