iv had people that think that bike shouldnt be over taking , i was on a over take on a very wide road and had the bloke coming the other way swerve at me thinking he was clever !!
i would also stop to help , some people realy need to learn what mirrors are for , and pay more attention to whats going on around them

i didnt say they shouldnt be over taking but they should do it in a safe and polite mannor, i didnt say all bikers do it either, aslong as the road is fairly straight and open then i dont see why they cant, i over take in the rangie only when it is safe to do so, and i keep a wide berth, and i dont sit right up the a*se of the vehicle infront just before pulling out and stucking a foot to the side of the vehicle, even though there is loads of room the other side of the road

unfortunatly jim i think you are missing the point i am trying to make, if people go through the traffic that then causes more mayhem at the fromt of the cue and may also get involved in the accident that is the cause of the hold ups, and the speeds they do it at they wont see it coming before its too late

the speed the biker chooses to filter at is his/hers (nothing to do with you), and most filter pretty responsibly as 99.9% of bikers actually "know" how vulnerable they are, and if i choose to cross white lines or travel over hatching it's not affecting your journey, the only thing it's doing is encouraging you to let your blood pressure rise ...
i've ridden at times like a total a*se as do many bikers, but then many car drivers (regardless of size of vehicle) are the same with no consideration for "any" other road user (how many times do you think i've been cut up in my old Series3 ??) ...
i reckon you should go see if you'd be accepted as a policeman being as you appear to wish to dictate to others how they should/will behave, then you "might" have the right to ....
or alternatively, learn to ride a bike in modern traffic and get a little perspective (potential BMW bike owner ?? )

A good friend of mine was filtering at 15mph and was killed by a pair of tossers in a stolen merc and they never caught them.
He left a wife a 3 kids under 5.
It's took me a while to get back on my bike and now i am i am more switched on when filtering in traffic and keep my speed down as you never really know who's going to pull out on you or when.
I would always stop for any rider driver and would like to think that the favor would be returned one day

Not so long ago I'd delivered a bike to a dealer in Peterborough and was heading home when I saw a crashed bike at the side of the road. The chap had slipped, hit the kerb and fallen off. The AA wanted >£200 to take him a few miles home, which I thought was outrageous, so I put his bike on the trailer and took him home myself.
If I come across the scene of an accident, regardless of the vehicles involved, I'll stop and offer to help - unless there are already people on the scene in which case I'd probably just be in the way.
I think the attitude thing changes depending on where you are in the country. A mate of mine was knocked off his bike in London, and instead of helping him up the other car drivers just shouted and swore at him to get his bike out the way because he was blocking the road. I'd hard to lift a bike with a broken arm....
As for letting bikes filter through traffic, they aren't doing anyone any harm so why try to stop them? If they join the queues you just get longer queues... I've only once encountered a serious idiot when filtering who, after I'd passed, decided to force he way past me again by driving on the grass on the central reservation. Sad.
