what all do i need for vit lift??
« on: July 02, 2009, 22:02:08 »
looking to lift my 1998 grand vitara by 2-3 inches, just looking for someone to tell me exactly what all i need!! going to start with a suspension lift then maybe a body lift too what can i lift the body by without changing too much?? wouldnt mind the brake lines but anything else i should watch out for?

also got some 15" wheels n tyres from a sj but the only way i can get them to fit over caliper is with 30mm spacers, anyone done this??

hi m8y
welcome to MC
geeeveee you say nice rigs
some standard vitara stuff will fit like
long reach rear shox
coil spacers
but front dampner extensions are only geeeveee
try www.bits4vits.com web shop

as for springs try TBR for uprated geeeeveee items these will be your most expense doing the lift

as for body lift 2" might be better suited to you again try bits4vits web shop

any more info just ask

ahh nice one, i measure up a wheel and it must be very close if it dont fit, theres alot of metal on that caliper, i could just grind it a smidge and not brake as hard haha!

cheers!

Why all the bother to fit 15s lots of messing about and you end up looseing an inch under the diffs ,sell your 15s and get some 16inch rubber -i have a 2in lift susp and 2inch body this gives me 15in ground clearance under the chassis and 8 under the diffs, all the parts from Bits4 Vits and its all quality kit also running 32s with 235/85/16s my truck is 02 GeeVee swb,

[/qu ote]

480 is probably the average price to lift anything ,you know what happens when useing sub standard parts that look cheap they break or give you a sub standard ride and you only want to do the job once ,there is not a lot of choice of offroad bits for the Gee Vee  can get some bits from USA and AUS but shipping costs and the exchange rate make them dear to buy, got my springs from another forum for 40 pounds Ironman prices are ok too,at the end of the day you get what you pay for, :-k

hi m8
still dont think they wud fit without taking a grinder to ur calipers
i tried with negitive offset fatboy alloys and they still locked up on the calipers with 32mm
wheel spacers and studs tightened up

if you want to spend another £200 ish you cud see if you can find some 50mm billet
spacers but you takes ur chance to see if that works

end of the day the geeeeeveee was built for 16" rims and bigger to be fitted

personaly id not take a grinder to the brakes just incase

Would I be able to fit 16 inch wheels and tyres, once I've replaced the lowered springs with standard ones, fitted the 1.25 inch spring spacers and the 1.5 inch strut spacers, but without chopping or modding the arches or bulkhead??

Anything else I'll need to fit, will the camber be out or will I need  to fit shock spacers?

hi m8
yes ur be able to fit 16" wheels tyre size will be dependant on ur total lift but id guessinmate size in the region of 235/70/16 shud fit nicely
camber again is a funny thing some vits need it some dont
if you have fitted front dampner extensions this will enuf with coil spacers and lift springs
you will have to swap out the rear shox for longer items again dependant on budget you have pro-comp uk ,llama 4x4 which sell rough country or my personaly favourite mk2 astra rear shox ( cause they are cheap and easy to get hold off )

hope this helps
simon
