also if they are like most employers - they are lokoing at the 'H&s ' aspect of fitting NON standard tyres... in other words - a right loads of ba**s

I couldn't have put it better myself! :)
Bishops Finger:
But electricity companys fit BFG M/Ts to their Landies....????
Disco Matt:
That really would be ridiculous. Tyres are tyres. Providing that they're properly approved and have a suitable load/speed rating then there's no reason for them to make the vehicle less safe. Increased stopping distances in the wet with mud tyres are not a problem if you're keeping a sensible distance from the vehicle in front, and you're not likely to be fitting Simex to it anyway!

We're now going through a period where people have forgotten this incident and are now getting us to log how often the vehicles are driven off road, how severe the terrain was, how many miles was driven etc. They will use this at a later date to justify sending vehicles out with road biased tyres! Totally forgetting that these vehicles can be driven a bit slower on the road to compensate for tyres but need to perform 100% offroad!!

Perhaps they will do the same with Stab Vests "We now have to fill in forms for how frequently we get stabbed, how many times and how long the blade is" I mean "Its not like you get stabbed very often, so why waste all that money"
propes:
A mucka of mine in the army got issued a set of body armour for iraq that was too small for him and the answer was put it on backwards and make sure no yanks are behind you!!! Make do with what you get issued and when the sh*it hits the fan they weedle their way out of it by blaming someone else, but your still a long time dead.
