X90 Petrol Pipes

Gremlin:
I need to replace one of the steel fuel pipes near the back of the car.  From the diagram in the Haynes manual it looks as though its either the fuel return pipe or the vapour pipe.  Are either of these pipes under pressure.  Could they be replaced with a plastic pipe. Are steel ones easily obtainable. Are there any particular problems I can look forward to in replacing it/them.
