meader:
fitted the head gasket the other day as my old one blew .the motor never over heated and the head was skimmed 3 months ago but after i fitted it it was blowing oil out from beneath the head gasketon the block side took it back off and i have lots of water markes on the block .no damge to the head gasket at all .now wot way up should the head gasket be fitted cus it says top on it so i fitted it with the top facing up is thiss the right way round

SteveGoodz:
You got it right. Sounds a stupidly obvious question doesn't it ... but better sure than sorry  :D

Did you get my email with the head torqueing details?

meader:
yes i did thanks

Range Rover Blues:
If you fit it the wrong way round on a TDi there isno oil supply to the head.

meader:
guess wot i did im such an ass    just had my mate come round and look at it for me and stright away he noticed the marks on the block of the head gasket and guess wot i fitted it the wrong way round i only had the engine turning over for a max of 20 seconds so hope its ok
