rear axel problem

(1/1)

yolandie:
on my defender i have range rover classic axels front and back and on the back usaly the brackets where the bottem of the shocks go in to face to the front
which it does on the left hand side but on the right it faces the opposite way can any one tell me why it has been done like this cheers dale

topless matt:
The range rover classic had shocks facing opposite ways to enable them to clear some parts of the car, cant remember what parts but thats why

tack43:
Makes it a pre 1985 axle.

Range Rover Blues:
Yeap it's an inmperial axle with slightly smaller bearings in the diff and a different filler plug (in the diff IIRC).

They were done like that to control trosional tramp on the rear axle, no other reason.
