Engine Conversion

Patty:
I have a 1985 90 truck cab with a dead 2.5 n/a engine, i've been given a turbo diesel engine that has come out of a 110, i was told it is a daihatsu 2.8, but it has VAZ written on the top, it is fitted with a conversion ring has anyone heard of this engine?
