Rear axle swap

(1/2) > >>

mass199:
How hard is swapping the standard drum braked rear axle for a disc braked one from a discovery 1.

Thinking of doing the conversion for ease of maintenance and better brakes

cheers Mark

russ3120:
there is many threads on here about doing it

It is a simple swap and shouldn`t take more than a weekend, change alll the suspension bushes while your at it.

It's only a couple of big bolts and bleeding the brakes, should only take an hour or two.

i intnd to do this withing the next few weeks, ill let you know how i get one,

on my list to buy other than the axle is
>2 gas shocks

erm, i think thats it

cheers kieran

Kieran, if you are removing the rear axle I would reccomend replacing the a - frame ball joint and the bushes, as otherwise, you will end up taking the axle off to do it again...Also, check the state of the brake lines.

Happy working mate. You coming down for the TV4x4 club rally this year?
