VW question

(1/2) > >>

discowoman:
OK so I am off shortly to look at a Mk3 ( I think) golf diesel estate ( non turbo) P reg.
SUPPOSED to be bodily and mechanically very good..BUT it has 233,000 miles on the clock....Now I know diesels absorb mileage very well, but should I be looking for anything apart from the obvious rust, leaks and smoke? because I have never owned a VW before, so its all new to me!!!

TDi90:
Check its history. Make sure its had a cambelt. If it hasn't recently get one done. Or just do it anyway ;) keep it well serviced, look after it and it will go on and on and on :)

discowoman:
well went to see it .. and I've never seen a chicken shed on wheels before
and also had an 'interesting' rattle from the engine/gearbox.. I enquired what it was and got " Oh they ALL do that"
I think the line the news papers use is " I made my excuses and left"..VERY rapidly.
Oh wel the search is still on!!

drfence:
hi out of intrest what was the price??????

Saffy:
233,000 miles is a LOT of wear and tear on small vehicle, must looked RAF inside, imaging the steering wheel worn away like a sucked polomint.
