Salisbury axle

(1/2) > >>

Sabo:
Hi

I have a Salisbury axle I exchanged for my old one - should have checked it, drained the oil and there was bits of metal at the bottom of the bucket!
Has anyone had any experience of fixing a salisbury axle?
Not opened it up yet as I am a bit XXXXXXX XXX with it, especially after it took be ages to fit it to the vehicle!

Any advice is much appreciated.

Lucy1978:
A PITA really, to get the diff out you need a spreader to open up the diff casing, spread it just a little too far and it's knackered. Hopefully it's just some bits of half shaft and the diffs fine.

carbore:
Never done it, but have seen a few articles that say its not easy at all and may even require specialist tools. Ill see if I can find one of the articles.

bogie:
scrap it mate!

fordlltwm:
apparently it can be done with a engine hoist right in the middle of the casing, some one on the S2 club reckoned to of done it.
