Can I still open the boot door with a spare wheel mounted Simbar cycle rack?

One further question. I have 265's on 17" Predators - slightly more offset. If I push a plank against the spare tyre then measure from the inside (tyre side) of the plank to the outside of the spare wheel holder, I have a measurement of 120mm. How does that compare to standard width tyres (are yours standard?) and will I have enough clearance?

I think you mean measure from the outside of the wheel, through the wheel to the carrier...???? but I could be wrong.... :lol: :lol: :lol:

If you've got larger wheels then I think you might struggle to even fit the carrier as the boss which fits behind the spare wheel won't stick out far enough through the wheel for you to attach the carrier too...!!!! I have standard 235/70/16 fitted, I'll take a picture tomorrow to show you what I mean.

You're exactly right - sorry for the confusion.

OK - here's round 2 of photo's and measurements for you mate.

First off......with a plank of wood pressed against the spare wheel I measured through the centre of the Simbars boss (it's hollow and allowed me to get to the spare wheel carrier) and I get a measurement of 100mm.... this is with standard 235/70/16......see picture below......  :lol:




As I mentioned earlier the boss for the cycle carrier is designed to stick out through the spare wheel just far enough for you to be able to secure the rack to the boss with a padlock. See picture below.... :lol:



And this one....



This hole is 80mm from the wheel carrier, again see picture below.... :lol:
