Well, I got the post!
No start date as yet, as my current boss has to OK a leaving date.
No more night shifts! I might get a social life back!
I have to work out how to get a sponsored Plod 4x4 now. What a crazy state of affairs!

Cheers for all the support folks, much appreciated.

Well done that man   How about a "Mudclub" sponsored 4x4???

That would be nice! Its something I've got to look into. The ideal wagon would be something that is a good off roader, and with a bit of poke in it to catch the blighters when they make off.
I can't see the Chief allowing me to use something that is better than his official car. The ideal thing to do would be to get a second hand one, and have the engine 'played' with. But Health and Safety being what it is these days, I very much doubt that would be allowed :(
Knowing my luck, I'll get a crappy old Fiesta cast off

Congratulations your Lordship. I see you are in my area of Hampshire. Hopefully this will mean the local "Caravan Utilising Nomadic Travellers" will be less inclined to keep popping round the workshop on the off chance I have been stupid enough to leave something valuable lying around outside. The farm that the workshop is on is in the middle of nowhere and suffers from problems, and we don't have a shortage of wild life either.

Also means that my second hobby, of fishing in the area might be better policed.

Hope you enjoy your new post chap.

Oh and regarding the vehicle - I've know where there is an ex - police Td5 90 for sale for a reasonable price, in white and I think it still has the battenburgs down the side and on the back. It's a good truck as I have serviced it for the last 3 years and not had any trouble with it.

I now have a start date of the 15th June. Still no word on a vehicle yet , but I shall work on it.
I've already had a shed load of Emails through from the bosses about tackling the poaching problem. I have a few ideas, but one thing that is needed is information.

To all Mud Clubbers when you are out and about in the Cundryside, please keep your eyes open. If you see anything that you think is suspicious, then call 'Old Bill'. We can't catch these thieving bu**ers without your help.

Would that be poaching of animals off farms or poaching of fish from rivers?

Both. Theft of coasre and game fish is an increasing problem. They taken for both consumption and to illegally restock other fisheries.

A rare serious post from the Bish...

Think its great that the funding is there for police to deal with some issues of rural crime and things that can cause issues with the infrastructure of rural living....

Good luck LSP....

From what I gather, it isn't just Hants that are doing this. Most Forces 'should' have wildlife/countryside officers. It may be worth having a look on the website for the Force that covers your area, finding out who the contact is and getting in touch with them to find out what they are doing.
As mentioned before, we need to get contacts in all apsects of rural industries and communities to be build up a true picture of what is going on and to try and win back confidence in the Police.
Its going to be an uphill struggle, but its got to be done.
"Action this day!" as Winston Churchill said.

Weapon Of Choice!!
I have a vehicle! I pleaded for a Landy, but they gave me this! It'll suffice for now.
All I have to do is take the hard top of the back, fit a couple of .50 cal HMG's and I'm in business!
Let battle commence!

It looked like a modern version of the TARDIS to me...It would be quite suitable for materialising by the side of poachers as they are in the act.....
