It was gov't policy to introduce the once-a-fortnight collections during the winter so we didn't notice the stink 'till it was too late.

Sadly, it seems that we now have a nation of sheep. Give them Big Brother, soaps and "celebrity" trash and they just won't care about the fact that their civil liberties are being eroded.
This wouldn't be anything to do with the shadowy links between government and media would it, and how one keeps the masses under control so they won't stop the other from doing what it wants...
